Position Type: Highly Qualified Paraprofessional for Special Education
Location: Greenbrier School District (Specific Building to Be Determined)
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; and
- Completed at least 60 hours of college credit; or
- Passed the Praxis Parapro Assessment
Job Description
- Assist students within a special education classroom setting
- Implement instructional activities with students as directed by the teacher and/or building principal.
- Assume responsibility for being prepared to perform instructional duties as prescribed by the teacher.
- Implement behavior management techniques as directed by the teacher/supervisor, and treat all students with dignity and respect.
- Assist with the physical management, etc. Lifting may be required with some students.
- Assist with the maintenance of the classroom.
- Assist with duties including but not limited to lunchroom, recess, bus, etc.
- Participate in training, staffing, and meetings as directed by the building principal and Administration.
- Adhere to confidentiality policies and practices for students under IDEA as outlined by the teacher.
- Follow any Greenbrier School Board Policy and/or practice.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration, building principal, and/or the supervising teacher.

- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities daily.
- Assists students in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere daily.
- Works as a team member on building level committees.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
- Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, harassment, bullying,zero tolerance offenses etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students.
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and /or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Other duties as assigned.
